Oyekan Ayomide Emmanuel, a 200-level student of medicine and surgery at the University of Ibadan has won the first-place prize of the 6th annual Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) Scholarship Essay Competition. The NHEF Scholarship Board made the announcement via its official website on Thursday, 19 August 2021. Tailing Ayomide were second-prize-winner, Bako Nathan Musa, from Bayero University, and third-prize-winner, Oluwasemilore Enoch Shadare, from the University of Lagos.
According to the disclosure, this past edition was the most competitive of all NHEF Scholarship Essay competitions, and it had contestants “critically analyze the role of digital technology in transitioning higher education in Nigeria to a post-pandemic system, using relevant examples”.

First-prize-winner, Oyekan Ayomide Emmanuel is to walk home with N100, 000, a new laptop, an online certification course, a 1-year internet subscription plan, and 1 year of university tuition. Second-prize-winner, Bako Nathan Musa, will go home with N75, 000, a 1-year internet subscription plan, and 1 year of university tuition. Third-prize-winner, Oluwasemilore Enoch Shadare will be rewarded with N50, 000, a 1-year internet subscription plan, and 1 year of university tuition.
The 6th NHEF Scholarship Essay Competition was opened to non-final-year students at the NHEF’s partner universities, which include the University of Ibadan, the University of Lagos, Bayero University, the University of Port Harcourt, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Ahmadu Bello University.
