The Freshers Welcome tagged ‘Love & Tradition’, took place between 10:30 AM and 1:45 PM, at the Indy Hall cafeteria. It was attended by Hall Executives, 100-level residents of the hall, as well as a few other Katangites. Activities at the program included orientation sessions from Praise Isa, the Hall’s PRO, who doubled as the event’s moderator, Akinkuade Waheed, the Health Commissioner, and the immediate past Administrator-General, Olaogun Temitope A.K.A Dr. Tee. The event featured giveaways of airtime and other items, and a Q & A segment to address probable concerns.
Also in attendance, was the Secretary of State, Lonimi Ogugbure, who stood in place of the absent AG, Adejumo Uthman, Speaker of the Indy Hall Legislative Council, Hon. Ajenifuja Tolulope, and former speaker, Rt. Hon. Temitope.
In his address to the fresh students, Rt. Hon. Temitope advised the students to cultivate good reading culture and engage in extra-curricular activities.
“Talking from experience, don’t ever consider quitting. Successful students make use of extracurricular activities” he said.
Later in the day, the second part of the event took place at the Hall’s Quadrangle. The main party tagged ‘Back in Uni’ kicked off around 7 PM, lasting late into the night. With Host, MC Twinkle, and the rest of the attendees, dancing and singing along to a choice selection of music, residents of the Hall relished every bit of the moment.
