The University of Ibadan Medical Students’ Association, UIMSA will on the 19th of March commence her 61st annual health week celebration. The week-long event is slated to start from Sunday 19th to Monday, the 27th of March, 2023 with the theme “The Business of Medicine: Phases and Faces”.
The Health Week will begin with a rally and bonfire at the Alexander Brown Hall, UCH. It will be followed by a symposium with the theme “ Doctors as Vendors of Medicine: Existing Opportunities and Current Challenges” on Monday 21st, at the Paul Hendrickse Lecture Theatre, UCH. A community health awareness program, under the pseudonym CHAP, has been slated for Tuesday, which would be followed by final rounds of Quizzes and Sporting events on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
Also, UIMSA movie night has been slated to hold on Friday, 24th March at the Film House Cinema, Ventura Mall, Sango area of Ibadan. The grand finale of the week, on Saturday, 25th March will feature a Dinner, Awards, and Pageantry night with the theme “A Night in Zamunda.”
Speaking with Indy Press, UIMSA Public Relations Officer, Opeyemi Ilori noted that the health week was designed to promote the effort and knowledge of every student-practitioners.
“For the symposium, we will be having speakers on Private Medicine, Health Insurance, and Health Technology. They will educate us on these three aspects, the challenges they face, how they think these things can be better, what they expect in the future.”
The Public Relations Officer stressed that the outlined events have been designed to promote class interaction and healthy competition among students.
