Mellanby Hall’s football team are on the brink of disqualification from the UI SU Inter Hall football competition after they fielded an ineligible player in their victory over Independence Hall on Thursday.

Mellanby were the better team and eventually won the game 1-0. However, there was some controversy after the game.

Habeeb, one of the Mellanby Hall players who was brought on as a substitute in the second half, was not included in the official matchday squad.

Following this discovery, Mellanby Hall’s spot in the football competition may be in jeopardy. This is because the inclusion of an unregistered player on the matchday squad list is a violation of the competition rules.

Nonetheless, the Sports Council is yet to rule on the matter. But it is expected that they would be disqualified from the football competition which would mean that Independence Hall would advance to the next round.
