SustyVibes on Saturday, 14th of October organised a movie party at the University of Ibadan.
SustyVibes is a community which encourages young people with passion for a just world to come together, connect, and design their new ways of living for themselves and the society as a whole.
The event which held at the Faculty of Arts Small Lecture Theatre (SLT) by 12pm had in attendance the HOD of the department of History; Prof. Rasheed Olaniyi, President of The History Department; Ayoola Damilola, Team Lead for BIOVerse; Hannah Omokhare, Ibadan Community Manager; Lekan Ojumun, Project Team Lead; Sonia Ugwunna, Western Regional Leader; Moses Ogunsola, Olabode Idris Olalekan, and other students of the University of Ibadan.
The event began with Hannah Omokhare addressing the attendees about the goals and mission of the organization and further revealed the programmes in which the organization sponsors including the empowerment programme that helps students who can pitch relevant and feasible ideas to the organisation form sponsorship.
“There are various programmes which we at the SustyVibes organizes just as this movie party that helps people to know about how important they need sustainability in their various environment”. She revealed.
“We have programmes like TEAP- The Eco-anxiety Programme, The EcoFeminism and many others, also we have a programme that gives students opportunity to express their ideas in which after proper scrutiny if found relevant would be given 500,000 to start up the ideas.”
During the course of the event, the HOD of History Department, Prof. Rasheed Olaniyi gave a speech on History and Sustainability and how history is a key guidance to our present situation in the world.
During the event, the organizer of the event played the movie titled “Don’t Look Up” which explained how the society approaches important issues these days and the consequence of bad leaders in a state.
The event then witness a Panel session which was cordinated by Jumoke Omodeni and featured the co-founder of RecycleEdge; Mr. Victor Oyejide, Western Regional Leader; Mr. Moses Ogunsola, Project Team Leader; Miss. Sonia Ugwunna as the panelists.
The panelists session was about the lesson learnt in the movie and how the movie is related to our general community, and further revealed the important of approaching a better issue which affects our society.
