The Students’ Union Electoral Commission (SUEC), through its publicity committee, has on Monday, March 11, 2024, confirmed the authenticity of a widely shared broadcast, which announced the schedule for the lifting of ban, placed on electioneering activities for the current academic session.
Confirming the development, the Publicity Chairman of the Commission, Lawal Teslim Opeyemi, in a chat with Indypress, noted that the release was authentic, and has urged students to actively participate in the anticipated students’ union election.
“Regarding our announcement of the lift of ban, it is authentic. We hereby notify all UITES to be actively engaged in this forthcoming election. Campaign shall only start by 10pm today when the ban is lifted. We are looking forward to a great electioneering process in the University of Ibadan this session” the Publicity Chairman of the Commission said.
The Electoral Commission, in its earlier undersigned broadcast, explained that the ban for electioneering campaign will be “lifted on Monday, March 11th, 2024, from 10pm till 11:59pm on the eve of Election Day”.
The Commission, also, has advised all active participants, especially aspirants in the forthcoming election, to be of good conduct as the University of Ibadan demands.
“As campaign activities are set to officially begin, it is important that good behavior is upheld and the spirit of sportsmanship is accorded among each other. Further information and updates about the electioneering processes shall be communicated as and when due” the release reads.
