Field Report | Subtle Campaign Continues Despite SUEC Ban

By: Toluwalope Ayeye

Indy Press has observed that subtle electioneering campaign for candidates vying into elective positions at the University of Ibadan Students’ Union level is, as of the time of this report, going on in some halls of residence.

Students, including press members, are being approached by supporters of aspirants in the halls, on walkways, and are being asked to vote for certain candidates.

Speaking to the Students’ Union Electoral Commission Publicity Chairman about the menace, Mr Lawal Opeyemi noted that punitive measures are being put in place to address the trend.

“We are going to be deploring commissioners, and any one caught in action is going to be taken by the University’s security unit” the SUEC Publicity Chairman assured.
