UI Students Turn To Access Bank Amid Power Outage

Students of the University of Ibadan on Thursday, September 26, 2024, flocked to Access Bank, UI to charge their devices as they deal with power outages that began on Wednesday, 25th of September, 2024, IndyPress can report.

Recall that the Students’ Union, through a press release jointly signed by the Students’ Union House Secretary, Elemide Daniel and Public Relations Officer, Omotayo Olumide, had informed the student body on Wednesday, September 25, about the electricity issues caused by heavy rainfall and collapse of a pole at Sasa.

The earlier release by the UI’SU had noted that Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) had begun to address the issue.

IndyPress correspondent who visited the scene observed students charging their mobile phones and laptops within the bank.

Within the premises of the bank, as observed, some students focused on studying their course materials, some others watched movies, while others chatted.

Some students took advantage of the bank’s Wi-Fi, with arrival noted to be as early as 7AM to power up their gadgets.
