The Legislative Council, Great Independence Hall of Residence, University of Ibadan on Saturday, 9th of November, 2024, is reviewing a bill for the removal of existing fliers pasted within the hall.

The bill proposed by the Estate Committee has been considered to move to the second phase during her 4th plenary sitting, held at the Junior Common Room (JCR).

According to the bill, violation of the new policy will result in payment of a five hundred naira fine, denial of access to the hall facilities and trial before appropriate authorities.

According to the resolution of the last sitting of the Hall Assembly, desecrators were given a Saturday 16 November 2024 deadline.

Despite the Assembly’s effort, all public spaces previously abused by individuals and religious bodies have remained in the same state, IndyPress can report.

At blocks A, B, and C, doors and walls were cluttered with different posters, as some appeared freshly pasted, IndyPress observed.

The Estate Committee which had condemned the act of disfiguring the outlook of the walls, as of the time of this report, is yet to implement any of its proposed sanctions.
