Nyong-Bassey Nkoyo emerged Chairperson-elect of Queen Idia Hall of Residence. Nkoyo emerged with a total of 525 votes, while Mudashiru Oyindamola, had 409 votes.
Her plans, framed the NINJA AGENDA, are geared towards academics, health, Idiates wellness initiative, improvement of the aesthetic quality of the hall, activity itinerary, publication of finance statements, light up Idia and amendment of laws.
NINI’S Academic and Health Plans
Nkoyo promised to ensure the continuation of tutorials by the current academic committee. She assured that that advice on academic matters would be provided to the residents of the hall whenever needed.
Stating her health plan, Nkoyo acknowledged the need for Queen Idia Hall to maintain a clean and conducive environment. The Hall Chairperson-elect stated that monthly sanitation exercises would be implemented.
According to her, this regular cleaning practice would encourage Idiates to follow suit and develop good hygiene habits. Nkoyo emphasized that maintaining cleanliness is not always a simple task, and the monthly sanitation exercises would help Idiates appreciate this.
The Hall Chairperson-elect addressed the issue of waste management, highlighting the problem with the current bins, which are often overflowing with dirt, thereby compromising the cleanliness of the hall environment. To resolve this issue, she promised to provide at least one additional waste bin on every floor, as well as an extra bin in the hall quadrangle.
Nyoko also promised to establish a first aid team, which would be properly trained by the Health Minister and an invited health team, with the goal of being equipped to efficiently respond in emergency situations.
Regarding the first aid box, she highlighted its current state, which lacks complete equipment. Nyoko noted that this has resulted in the inability to address health-related issues within the hall. To address this, Nyoko promised to provide at least one functional first aid box, along with additional first aid items to be shared among the first aid team.
Nyoko addressed the issue of tank washing, acknowledging Idiates’ complaints about the dirtiness of the tanks in the hall. To tackle this problem, she promised to ensure that the tanks are washed every month, and this initiative will be facilitated through the office of the Health Minister.
The Idiates Wellness Initiative
Nyoko in her manifesto unveiled plans to introduce a vocational program, tailored to equip interested Idiates with employable skills in business. This initiative will encompass a range of programs, including vocational skills training in areas like soup making, skincare production, and bead making.
Additionally, Idiates will have the opportunity to enroll in tech-related programs, further broadening their skill set.
In another strategic move, the Hall Chairperson-elect outlined a Yard sale plan aimed at generating revenue for the hall. This initiative will involve selling donated items, courtesy of some Idiates, to raise funds for the hall.
Nkoyo plans to introduce a “yard sale where Idiates donate clothes, shoes and other items that they don’t use anymore and then sell them for ridiculous prices. For example, a pair of shoes could go for as low as N50 or N100.”
Improvement of the Aesthetic Quality of the Hall
Nyoko promised to provide more clothing lines to reduce the number of residents drying their laundry on the(ir) floor. She stated that this plan would help improve the aesthetic quality of the hall, as clothes would no longer be spread on the floors.

Nkoyo’s activity itinerary is meant to a calendar to be sent out through the information minister at the beginning of every month containing all events that would happen within that month.
On Publication of Finance Statement
The Hall Chairperson-elect promised to make public a detailed account of the association’s financial state through the office of the Financial Minister.
According to her, the plan aims to ensure that every Idiate is aware of the hall’s financial status regarding student accounts, on a monthly basis.
On the “Light Up Idia” plan, Nyoko acknowledged that most hallways, kitchens, toilets, and bathrooms lack lighting. To address this, she promised to install bulbs in the necessary areas to prevent accidents and injuries among Idiates. She did not however spell her means of achieving this.
Additionally, the Hall Chairperson-elect vowed to amend certain laws in the hall constitution, assuring that these changes would be duly made by the House of Representatives Council of the hall.
