The Legislative Council, Great Independence Hall of Residence, University of Ibadan, inaugurated the Katanga Republic Independent Electoral Commission (KRIEC) at the hall’s Junior Common Room (JCR) on Friday, January 31st, 2024.

The KRIEC is constitutionally responsible for conducting elections within the hall, as stated in Article XII, Section 1, of the hall’s constitution.

However, IndyPress observed that the legislative sitting, scheduled for 8 pm, was delayed by 30 minutes due to a candidate’s use of the venue for his declaration of intent.

The inaugurated members of the KRIEC include Kelvin Omachonu, Odunukan Collins, Oreoluwa Ayoleke, Victor Jacob, Ayinde Samuel, Najimdeen Ayomide, Oduyale Michael, and one press representative.
