The Katanga Republic Independent Electoral Commission, University of Ibadan, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, presented its financial expenditure report on the recently held Indy Hall election to the hall assembly.
KRIEC made the presentation during a plenary sitting of the Great Independence Hall Legislative Council, held at the hall’s Junior Common Room (JCR).
According to the KRIEC, a total of three hundred and thirty-one thousand naira (#331,000) was generated for the election, while a sum of two hundred and nine thousand six hundred naira (#209,600) was spent on the election.
Highlighting the breakdown of how it generated funds for the hall election, KRIEC stated that while a sum of #100,000 was obtained from the Administrator General, a total of #169,000 was generated from the sales of forms.
A sum of #54,000 was generated from the by-election, while #8,000 came from the payment of fines.
KRIEC, in an audited report by Honorable Inioluwa, also stated that a total of seventeen Floor Representative and Executive forms were purchased, of which some candidates were screened out for not meeting the 50% benchmark for qualification.
Since the financial expenditure on the hall election was below the generated income, the House resolved that a sum of #100,000 (lent) be sent back to the bank account of the Administrator General, with a sum of #21,000 to the hall account.
KRIEC also noted that one of the candidates, Mr. Toyosi, owes a sum of #8,000, to be paid “on or before Thursday, March 20, 2025.”
