The University of Ibadan Students’ Union House Secretary, Adeyemi Oluwaseun, has assured that the ongoing fumigation of the halls of residence within the university will address the persistent bedbug infestation affecting students.

Adeyemi Oluwaseun gave this assurance during an interview with IndyPress on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

According to Oluwaseun, the fumigation exercise is being monitored by the Students’ Union leadership.

“That’s why we are physically present to ensure that. If they persist, it could be due to reintroduction from elsewhere. The fumigation will go a long way, but prevention is the best way to curtail this issue. So, there will be a campaign against these pests,” Adeyemi Oluwaseun assured.

Student-residents of the University of Ibadan have been suffering from an incessant bedbug infestation in the halls of residence.

The blood-sucking pests, bedbugs, which make living and learning experiences unconducive for students, are widespread in the halls of residence, reading rooms, and libraries, IndyPress observed.
