Sigma Club to Hold 2nd Edition of National Secondary School Quiz Competition

Sigma Club, University of Ibadan, is set to hold the second edition of the Roseline Etuokwu National Secondary School Quiz Competition on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

The announcement about the upcoming quiz competition was made during a virtual press conference held on Monday, March 31, 2025.

According to Sigma, the first edition of the competition took place in 2021, featuring secondary schools in Ibadan North Local Government.

The second edition was expanded into a state competition, featuring secondary schools in Oyo State, while the third edition included participants from the southwestern region of the country.

The National Secondary School Quiz Competition, which commenced in 2024, saw the ultimate winner receive a sum of one million naira. Its second edition will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Trenchard Hall, UI.

According to Sigma, the overall winner of the quiz competition will be rewarded with a sum of five million naira. The first runner-up will receive two million naira, while the second runner-up will receive one million naira.

The club assured that consolation prizes would be given to the third, fourth, and fifth runners-up in the quiz competition.

The club also clarified that arrangements for transportation and accommodation for the participating secondary schools have been adequately made. Additionally, the quiz competition will feature general knowledge questions.

Speaking at the press conference, the National Coordinator of the quiz competition, Mr. Olaoluwa Olagoke, explained that the essence of the competition is to encourage and reward academic excellence among secondary school students.

“The motive behind this quiz competition is to encourage and reward academic excellence among the students. I have the vision of seeing the competition evolve to the point where the ultimate winner receives a sum of 200 million naira in the future,” Mr. Olaoluwa Olagoke said.
