Israel Bolarinwa, a Katangite and 200-level student of Arts and Social Sciences Education, Faculty of Education, won the National Oratory Award on Saturday, April 5, 2025, IndyPress reports.
The award of excellence, sponsored by the Peat Phillips Foundation, was conferred on Israel in recognition of his outstanding performance at the grand finale of the 2025 Young Orators competition, held at Townhouse Hotel, Iyaganku.
The victory has earned Bolarinwa Israel the opportunity to represent Nigeria in a global public speaking competition in London. The competition is scheduled to take place in May 2025.
Reacting, Israel Bolarinwa noted, “Well… it’s been a long time coming. The national coach for the competition called it one of the greatest upset stories of all time, and I do agree with that. It was a competition that had the best minds from all over the country, and even from UI.
“It was an intense one. From the preliminary rounds up to the semi-final and final, it was tough, but God came through. What I feel is more than the win. It’s just something I’m so happy about, because I’ve had different disappointments in school — so many efforts that didn’t yield — but here we are.”
