The University of Ibadan Students’ Union Executive Council launched the Proof of Concept Testing for Electric Tricycle, an initiative designed to enhance “economically friendly transportation” within the University, on Monday, April 7, 2025.

According to the Students’ Union’s Twitter post, the initiative had been first facilitated under the watch of the former Students’ Union President, Aweda Bolaji.

The essence of the initiative, as noted by the Students’ Union leadership, was to provide economic ease to the student community in intra-campus transportation.

“This development marks a bold step toward sustainable, eco-friendly, and economically friendly tech-driven transportation within the university community, reaffirming the Union’s commitment to student-centered progress and forward-thinking,” the X post reads.

Efforts to get comments from the Students’ Union President, Covenant Odedele, and House Secretary, Oluwaseun Adeyemi, for more information about the initiative were unsuccessful as of press time.
