Kegites Club, UI, Unveils New Chief

The Kegites Club of Nigeria, National Headquarters, University of Ibadan, on Sunday, 13th April 2025, crowned Ogunrinu Olanshile, a 400-level Communication and Language Arts student, as the new Chief of the sociocultural club.

The main event, held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall cafeteria, was attended by students and alumni from other affiliated chapters of the club.

The ceremony marked the end of a keg year and the beginning of a new one with a newly appointed Chief.

While Ogunrinu Olanshile was unveiled as the club’s new Chief, another final-year Communication and Language Arts student, Olajide Olawale, was appointed to serve as the new Elder (Vice President) for the 2024/2025 keg year.

The overnight ceremony featured hours of cultural singing and dancing.

In an interview with IndyPress, Ogunrinu Olanshile, the newly appointed Kegites Chief, expressed his delight at the honor and affirmed his commitment to elevating the club’s stature.

“It is exciting and overwhelming, and I pray I can carry the huge responsibility of this position as the traditional Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, while maintaining the standards associated with the National Headquarters.”

The new Kegites Chief, Olanshile Ogunrinu notably doubles as the President of the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan.
