Despite a court order mandating her temporary reinstatement, Nice Linus, a 400-level Law student, is yet to be re-added to the official constituency WhatsApp group of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) members, Obafemi Awolowo Hall of Residence, IndyPress has learned.
Nice Linus confirmed this in a follow-up inquiry by IndyPress.
The inaction of Awo Hall SRC members, despite submitting a petition for Linus’ reinstatement on March 30, 2025, ironically echoes the exclusionary conduct the constituency had previously condemned, as they continue to bar her from the constituency’s official communication platform.
On March 19, 2025, a Federal High Court in Ibadan granted Linus an ex parte application that temporarily nullified her disqualification from the Council.
Repeated efforts by IndyPress to obtain comments from the constituency members proved unsuccessful.
A response from an acclaimed Majority Leader, Bolaji Olaleye, attributed the delay to the absence of a formal directive from the university authority.
“I’m sorry I don’t have the time for explanations. We are all waiting for a memorandum from the school management,” she stated, before deleting the message moments later.
The Council Speaker, Shoge Quadri, a 400-level Law student, has also remained silent on the matter.
As of the time of filing this report, Linus remains excluded from both the SRC and her constituency WhatsApp groups, despite the subsisting court order.
The court hearing between Nice Linus and the University of Ibadan is set to continue on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the Federal High Court, Adeoyo, Ibadan.
