Despite a court order mandating her temporary reinstatement, Nice Linus, a 300-level Law student, is yet to be re-added to the official WhatsApp group of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) representing Obafemi Awolowo Hall of Residence, IndyPress has learned.
The inaction of Awo Hall SRC members, despite submitting a petition for Linus’ reinstatement on March 30, 2025, ironically echoes the exclusionary conduct they had previously condemned, as they continue to bar her from the constituency’s official communication platform.
On March 19, 2025, the Federal High Court in Ibadan granted Linus an ex parte application that temporarily nullified her disqualification from the Council.
Repeated efforts by IndyPress to obtain comments from SRC members proved unsuccessful.
One of the few responses came from an acclaimed Majority Leader, Abolaji, who attributed the delay to the absence of a formal directive from university authorities.
“I’m sorry I don’t have the time for explanations. We are all waiting for a memorandum from the school management,” she stated, before deleting the message moments later.
The Council Speaker, Shoge Quadri, a 400-level Law student, has also remained silent on the matter.
As of the time of filing this report, Linus remains excluded from both the SRC and her constituency WhatsApp groups, despite the subsisting court order.
