The University of Ibadan Students’ Union Sports Council held a press conference on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

The press conference, which held at the SRC Chambers, addressed the draw for the upcoming inter-hall football tournament for fresh students.

The competition has been scheduled to take place between Tuesday, May 6, and Thursday, May 15, 2025.

It was announced at the press briefing that the inter-hall tournament would feature male and female categories.

The female category will be played in a league format with three halls. The first two teams on the table will advance to the final stage.

The fixtures for the female competition include Queens vs. Awolowo Halls, Idia vs. Awolowo Halls, and Queens vs. Idia Halls.

For the male competition, the teams will compete in a group stage followed by knockout rounds.

Group A consists of Sultan Bello, Kenneth Mellanby, and Nnamdi Azikiwe Halls, while Group B includes Lord Tedder, Ransome Kuti, and Independence Halls of Residence.

Each match day will feature two teams from each group.

It was clarified at the press briefing that only the health committee from each hall of residence will be responsible for providing medical aid during the tournament, as the Students’ Union will not make provisions for health facilities.
