The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships), Professor Oluyemisi A. Bamgbose, SAN, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor K. O. Adebowale, mni, FAS has inaugurated an ad-hoc committee on the review of the ethics policy of the University of Ibadan.
The Committee has Professor A. O. Adejumo of the Department of Psychology as its convener. Other members of the committee are prominent researchers: Professors Ikeoluwapo O. Ajayi, College of Medicine; Omolade Olomola, Faculty of Law; C. O. Agulana, Department of Philosophy; D. O. Oluwayelu, Department of Veterinary Microbiology; T. O. Ososanya, Department of Animal Science and Mary B. Ogundiran, Department of Chemistry.
O. A. Okeowo, Assistant Registrar, Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (RISP) was designated to serve as secretary to the committee, and he will be assisted by F.A.B Agoye and N.A. Ibrahim from the same office.
The committee has been saddled with the task of facilitating the much-anticipated review of the Ethics Policy of the University, fill the identified gaps that might exist and realign the policy guidelines to accommodate contemporary global issues in the areas of research as they affect the University.
The committee’s report is expected to determine the guidelines for a renewed focus of research activities of the University of Ibadan in the coming years.
