The Great Independence Hall of Residence Executive Council on May 21, 2025, warned residents against the trend of theft in the hall.
The Council acknowledged “the recent series of stealing incidents” in the hall, including the theft of clothes.
According to a broadcast undersigned by Team Altruism, the Executive Council warned that any residents found guilty of theft would face disciplinary action.
Team Altruism also charged Katangites to be security conscious, by raising alarm about suspicious theft. The Executives also assured confidentiality of any individual that reports theft cases.
“We declare a policy against any form of theft or related indiscipline. Such acts are a disgrace to the Katanga spirit and will be met with the full force of hall and university regulations,” the Executive Council wrote.
“Any individual caught and confirmed to be involved in theft will face immediate and severe disciplinary action. There will be no leniency.”
“It is the duty of every true Katangite to safeguard our community. Report any suspicious individuals or activities without delay to any member of the Hall Executives,” the Executive Council added.
