UI VC Commends itel Energy for Donating Hybrid Inverter System to UI Students Representative Chamber

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, on Thursday, commended itel Energy for donating a hybrid inverter system to the Student Representative Council Chambers in the student union building of the university.

He said that itel Energy’s contribution will make a positive impact, not only on the students but the entire university.

At the handing over of the project which also signalled the commencement of an itel Solar Energy Training programme, the Vice-Chancellor appreciated the contributions of itel Energy to the educational system and society.

Professor Adebowale said the uninterrupted power supply will engender a renewed commitment to the reading culture, which is a catalyst to academic excellence.

He appreciated the benevolence of the organisation, saying that UI has begun an enduring relationship that will transform into future collaborations with itel Energy.

He stated that the university administration will soon commence the renovation of the SRC Chambers to complement the effort of itel Energy, saying that UI is passionate about providing a conducive atmosphere for its students leaders.

He charged the students to imbibe a maintenance culture in achieving the durability of the solar system, which was stipulated to have a 10-year life span.

The Technical Director of itel Africa, Mr Christian Hu, expressed appreciation to the university management for creating a platform to support the students in order to assist them in their academic pursuits.

He explained that itel Energy is a subsidiary of itel Africa in Nigeria that focuses on solar technology.

Mr Hu said that itel Energy will offer solar energy theory and practical training, offer job opportunities, scholarships, and internship placement to students of the University of Ibadan.

He added that the donation of the hybrid inverter system and establishment of a solar training centre at the University of Ibadan is a corporate social responsibility of the organisation, and the training will be held at scheduled times every Wednesday.

He assured that his organisation would seek further collaboration and strategic partnership with the University of Ibadan.
