The Vice-President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, has affirmed that the University of Ibadan is the greatest citadel of learning in Nigeria, and West Africa at large.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima made this assertion during the University of Ibadan management courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday, July 25, 2025.
Shettima, in his Facebook post, mentioned that he was bestowed with the title of the Highest Alumni Honour by the management of the University of Ibadan, led by Professor Kayode Adebowale
Affirming the Nigeria federal government’s resolve to advance the educational sector of the country, Shettima assured that Nigeria government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would continue to prioritize the development of tertiary institutions with the aid of both private and public sector in the country.
“Today, I received, on a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa, the management of the University of Ibadan, led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale,” Shettima Kashim wrote.
“During the visit, I was bestowed with the highest alumni honour of the University of Ibadan: “UI at 75 Ambassador Plenipotentiary.”
“This is an honour that I cherish deeply. Ibadan is certainly the greatest citadel of learning in this country and in West Africa. When we were there, we had students from South Africa, Namibia, and even the Caribbean.In my remarks, I restated the Federal Government’s unwavering resolve to reposition Nigeria’s education sector.”
“Specifically, I affirmed that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will mobilise both public and private sector support to uplift institutions such as the University of Ibadan (UI), Nigeria’s premier university,” he added.
