The Chief of Defence Staff of the Nigerian Armed Forces, General C.G. Musa, has assured that the Armed Forces of Nigeria will remain committed to prioritizing the national security of Nigeria.

General Musa gave the assurance while delivering a personality lecture organized by the University of Ibadan on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

Soliciting the collective contributions of all stakeholders, including the public and private sectors, General Musa emphasized that the security of the country is a collective responsibility.

General Musa appreciated the University of Ibadan for embodying what he described as a hub for critical thinking and leadership, while charging the university to remain committed to contributing to security research, policy innovation, and youth engagement.

He further explained that the concept of global fragility is interpreted in various ways, depending on the perspective or criteria applied in its analysis, emphasizing that it is characterized by a combination of factors that undermine a country’s ability to deliver core services, ensure security and justice, and create the required atmosphere for sustainable development.

The Army General admitted that Nigeria is affected by global fragility as a result of its geostrategic location, diverse population, and significant role in the African continent and the global scheme of things, referencing the rise of Boko Haram and the escalating violence by armed bandits in certain regions of the country.
