The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, has asserted that the strength of the university lies in the seamless continuity of its leadership.
Professor Adebowale made this assertion during a transition programme organized to appreciate some outgoing Deans of Faculties and welcome newly elected Deans, assuming new official roles in their respective faculties.
According to Professor Adebowale, “the transition programme underscores a fundamental truth: that the strength of the university lies in the collective efforts and seamless continuity of its vision, which underpins leadership at different levels.”
The Vice-Chancellor mentioned that the baton of leadership may be passed from one dispensation to another, but the race towards excellence in administration continues.
Acknowledging the burden of leadership, Professor Adebowale explained that it requires wisdom, patience, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the ideals of the university, while commending the outgoing Deans for their mentorship, vision, and advocacy.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the incoming Deans of Faculties, welcoming them to what he described as a critical leadership cadre of the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor further enjoined both the outgoing and incoming Deans to foster a spirit of collaboration, advising them to represent the interests of their staff and students while upholding the mission of the University of Ibadan.
Reacting, the Registrar of the University of Ibadan, Mr. Ganiyu Saliu, noted that the transition programme is a tradition in the University of Ibadan, while commending the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebowale, for what he described as his commitment to sustaining the tradition.
