The Sigma club, University of Ibadan, is set to commence another edition of its Sports Festival, scheduled to hold from 16th to 27th of September, 2025.
According to a brochure obtained by IndyPress, the tournament will feature a variety of sports, including football, table-tennis, chess and scrabbles.
The Sports Festival, according to the brochure, will kick off with a friendly game between the male and female teams of the University of Ibadan at Awo Stadium on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
In the football category, 16 teams will compete in both male and female divisions. The winner of the male category will be awarded a cash prize of #100,000 while the first and second runners-up will receive #75,000 and 50,000 receptively.
For the female category, the winner will take home #50000, with the first and second runners -up receiving #35000 and #20000 respectively.
The individual sports, consisting of table tennis, chess and scrabbles, will feature 16 players each in a round-robin format at the SUB Car Park.
Winners in each category will receive #20000 while first and second runners-up will be awarded #15000 and #10000 respectively.
Participants have been advised to uphold discipline and sportsmanship through the tournament. As contained in a brochure released by the Sigma Club, any form of indiscipline and unsportsmanlike behavior will attract appropriate sanctions.
The tournament is open to all interested students of the University of Ibadan, including the undergraduates, postgraduates and Distance Learning students.
