The Educational Management Students’ Association, Faculty of Education, UI, organised a personality lecture on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

‎The personality lecture, tagged”Thriving Beyond the Classroom: Unique Feature of a Successful Personality,” took place at the Faculty of Education Large Lecture Theater.

Speaking, the personality lecturer, Engr. Remi Oseni, a civil engineer and Nigerian federal lawmaker, emphasized the significance of acquiring solution-oriented education over a degree, describing it as integral to being relevant in the labour market.

He said, ” Education does not automatically guarantee prosperity. Rather it brings liberation from ignorance.”

Engr. Remi Oseni also mentioned that the country needs problem solvers, visionary leaders, and innovators, not graduates with degrees but without the relevant skills essential for contributing to the development of the country.

“Until we redirect our education towards skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship, the country will continue to produce educational liabilities,” he added.

‎ Stressing the need for students to strive beyond the classroom, Engr. Remi urged participants to acquire leadership skills and prioritize risk-taking.

“Develop a vision beyond your degree and acquire leadership skills. Also, cultivate integrity, risk- taking, and financial prudence,” he advised.

‎He further assured the students that the infrastructure of the Faculty of Education Large Lecture Theater will be “properly renovated.”
