The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the University of Ibadan, Professor Peter Olapegba, has urged the Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria to be committed to its advocacy for improvement in reading culture among Nigerians
Professor Peter Olapegba made this call while receiving the University Librarian, Dr Mercy A. Iroaganachi, who led the Registrar/CEO of the Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN), Ambassador Jaafar Wase, on his courtesy visit to the office of the Vice-Chancellor.
Professor Peter Olapegba decried what he described as the national decline in library use, noting its replacement by the internet, while charging the Council to restore the reading culture in the country.
He further appreciated the Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria for considering UI as the venue for its capacity building initiative, assuring the Council of the University’s support.
