The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has stated that the Nigerian government has returned to the negotiation table to find a lasting solution to the ongoing two-week warning strike.

ASUU disclosed this in a statement dated 19th of October, 2025, and signed by its President, Christopher Piwuma.

According to the statement, the National Strike Coordinating Committee (NSCC) met on Saturday, 18th of October, 2025, at the National Secretariat to review matters around the ongoing strike.

ASUU, in the statement, disclosed that the attention of relevant stakeholders has been drawn to its demands, noting that certain decisions are being reached.

The Union also mentioned that issues regarding third-party deductions, arrears of promotions, mainstreaming of EAA, confiscation of UNIABUJA land and victimization of its members in KSU, LASU, and FUTO are being addressed.

“Our members nationwide have been resolute in the implementation of NEC’s resolution on 28th of September, 2025 in respect of the warning strike. Government’s Renegotiation Team, led by Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, has come to the negotiation table with documented response to our demands and made some offers to the Union,” ASUU wrote.
