“Appear Formal and Smart”- NYSC Deputy Director Tells UI Final-Year Students

The University of Ibadan Students’ Affairs Division in collaboration with National Youth Service Corps facilitated a one-day NYSC sensitization training for final-year students of the University at the Faculty of Education Large Lecture Theatre on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

The training aimed to prepare the student participants for the National Youth Service Corps program and educate them on the expectations and process involved.

‎Speaking, Dr. Oludolapo Abraham, the Deputy Director of Nigeria Youth Service Corp (NYSC) Mobilization, enlightened the final-year students on NYSC code of conduct, emphasizing the need to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations governing the program.

‎‎Dr. Abraham  cautioned students against listing their romantic partners as next of kin during the  registration process.

He said,” Don’t put your boyfriends or girlfriends as next of kin, you should put people that are blood-related to you. Also, appear formal and smart during your registration process.”

He also emphasized the importance of preparing required and correct credentials for the registration process. For the married students, he assured them of deployment to the same locations as their spouses.

He further urged students to channel any concerns or complaints through the University’s Students’ Affairs Division.

The event had the attendance of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, represented by the  Dean of students, Prof. Ademola Lewis, Deputy Registry, Mr. S.O Oyewumi, and other NYSC officials at the state and national level.
