Twenty students of the University of Ibadan have been appointed by the Students’ Union leadership as advocates for cancer awareness campaign.
The students were appointed on behalf of the Dove-haven Foundation, an organization that aims at creating cancer awareness campaign.
The appointed students were unveiled during a cancer awareness program held at Trenchard Hall, UI, and organized by Dove-haven Foundation in collaboration with the University of Ibadan.
In an interview with IndyPress, Opeyemi Adegoke, the Secretary of Dove-haven Foundation, UI Chapter, disclosed the plan of the organization to organize seminars for the UI students and create cancer awareness within the University.
“The aim of the association is that we are here to create cancer awareness because we actually noticed that this cancer thing is something people believe that it cannot be treated. We know that one of the ways to war against that is to advocate and make awareness,” Opeyemi Adegoke told Indypress.
“The students should look forward to a lot of awareness programs. We are going to organize special seminars for them and also sensitize them about cancer,” he added.
