The Executive Council of the Great Independence Hall of Residence, University of Ibadan, has mandated Ayokunle Peter (Scott-p), a student resident of the hall, to issue public apology letters for what it described as an assault on a fellow resident at the hall’s Junior Common Room.
Recall that IndyPress had earlier reported that Blessing Bodunde, a student resident of the hall, was slapped by Scott-p for announcing Sofascore update while watching the streamed football match between Nigeria and Gabon on November 13, 2025, at the hall’s JCR.
The Peculiar Adedeji-led Executive Council, in a memorandum co-signed by the Administrator General of the hall and Secretary of State, condemned the assault, mandating Ayokunle Peter (Scott-P) to issue two apology letters, one to be addressed to the victim and another to the hall within 48 hours.
Team Altruism further warned that failure to comply with the directive will attract disciplinary sanctions from the hall leadership.
“The Executive Council has been addressing the recent, unacceptable incident of assault involving Scott P in the Junior Common Room,” Team Altruism wrote.
“The Executive Council condemns this act of violence in the strongest possible terms. Bullying, intimidation, and assault have no place in the Great Independence Hall and directly violate our foundational culture of brotherhood and mutual respect. The Executive Council hereby demands that Scott P writes and submits two formal letters of apology within 48 hours of this notice: one to the victim and one to the Hall at large.
“Failure to comply with this directive will be met with immediate and necessary disciplinary action from the Hall leadership.
“Let this serve as a firm reminder to all residents. The leadership will not tolerate any behavior that threatens the safety, dignity, or well-being of any Katangite. We are, and must always be, our brother’s keeper. We will continue to work to ensure the Hall remains a safe home for all,” it added.
