Hammed Sodiq Akinkunmi popularly known as Sparrow, a 300-level student of the Department of Communication and Language Arts (CLA), Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan has emerged winner of the Indy Hall Bye-Election for the office of the Public Relations Officer.
The result was disclosed through a document jointly signed by the Katanga Republic Independent Electoral Commission Chairman, Ayinde Samuel and KRIEC Secretary, Giwa-Balogun Demilade on Sunday, December 21, 2025.
The Bye-election held on Sunday at the Junior Common Room (JCR) was scheduled to elect a candidate to fill the vacancy in the position of the Hall’s Public Relations Officer.

Akinkunmi secured victory with a screening score of 76.5, as against his opponent, Ajibike Emmanuel Ayanfeoluwa who was previously disqualified by the Commission during the initial screening exercise.
Speaking to IndyPress, the KRIEC Chairman, Ayinde Samuel explained the grading process for the assess the candidates. He noted that thr marking guide of the previous administration was used alongside a writing exercise.
“We followed the former marking guide. And then for the extra activity to do, we gave them 20 minutes to draft an article, which states “Baptism: The Importance to Katangites.” The KRIEC Chairman, Mr Ayinde said.
“So they were being scored based on the former marking guide, which we dropped earlier,” he added.
