Indy Hall Congress Cancelled; Indy Legislative Council to Hold Sitting

The congress of the Great Independence Hall of residence, scheduled for Tuesday, December 30, 2025, failed to hold due to a lack of quorum, a required number of signatories for the commencement of a congress.

The meeting was intended to address  financial misappropriation allegations against the “Team Altruism” Indy Hall executive council, led by Administrator General Peculiar Adedeji.

The Speaker of the Indy Hall Legislative Council, Hon. Gbadebo David, told IndyPress that the turnout fell short of the required number of student resident signatories.

“The Congress did not hold because many students have finished exams and traveled home,” Hon. David explained.

In the absence of a congress, student residents present at the Independence Hall Junior Common Room (JCR) resolved to refer the matter to the Legislative Council for formal adjudication.

The allegations against the executive include the mismanagement of a ₦12.9 million alumnus donation for the San Siro pitch and a ₦300,000 donation from internet personality Asherkine.

“According to the resolution of the meeting, the AG apologized for some of these things,” the Speaker noted, citing grievances over the Indy Hall football pitch, the Hall Week, and Elders’ Party.

He added that the House will now weigh the allegations and issue appropriate sanctions. An official notification for a formal sitting on January 5, 2026, is expected.
