The Administrator-General of the Great Independence Hall of Residence, Peculiar Adedeji, has been sanctioned to pay a ₦10,000 fine, as well as submit a written apology to Katangites, the student residents of the hall, and the Elders’ Council.

The decision was reached by the Hon. Gbadebo David-led Legislative Council during its fourth emergency sitting held on Monday, January 5, 2026.

The sitting, which lasted about three hours, deliberated on the Katanga Republic Independent Electoral Commission (KRIEC) report, and on a petition filed against Team Altruism, the Indy Hall Executive Council.

In its resolution, the Legislative Council directed the Administrator-General, Peculiar Adedeji to pay a ₦10,000 fine in connection with the multiple allegations earlier levelled against him.

He was also mandated to issue a formal apology to Katangites and the Elders’ Council for his failure to organize the 2025 Indy Hall Week and the Elders’ Party.

It will be recalled that Team Altruism, Peculiar Adedeji-led Indy Hall Executive Council was earlier accused of multiple allegations in a four-page petition undersigned by some concerned students of the hall on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
