The Centre for General Studies (CGS), University of Ibadan has issued urgent directives for students to correct General Studies course registration errors on the student portal, IndyPress reports.
The directive was disclosed through an internal memorandum signed by the Director of the CGS, Prof. A.F. Adeniyi, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
According to the memo, the errors occurred because some departments provided misleading information to students regarding the appropriate GES modules.
”It was observed during the last examination exercise that some students erroneously registered for incorrect General Studies courses,” the memo stated.
“Our review indicates that this occurred as a result of certain Departments inadvertently providing misleading information to the affected students.”
To rectify these records, affected students are advised to access the portal on Friday, January 9, 2026, between 8 AM and 4 PM.
“In order to ensure that the students’ academic records are accurate, I hereby request you to use your good offices as a matter of utmost importance and urgency to inform all affected students in your Faculty (see attached list), that the students’ portal will be opened for them to effect the necessary corrections as follows; Date: Friday, 9 January, 2026; Time: 8.00 am – 4.00 pm”
The memorandum also included a stern warning for those accessing the portal.
“Students should be advised to update/correct only the approved GES course codes. Any alteration to other registered courses would be considered a misconduct with consequences,” it added.
