Recently elected Students’ Union officers will be inaugurated today, February 4, 2026.
An official invitation confirming the handover ceremony of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UI’SU) was seen circulated on a public group by IndyPress.
IndyPress observed that the one-page document was signed by the outgoing Students’ Union President, Odedele Covenant, dated Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
The notice, published on the union’s letterhead, stated it cordial invitation to the transition ceremony.
The handover and inauguration ceremony is scheduled to commence at 10:30 a.m, on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.

According to the invitation, the event will also feature the official unveiling of a UI’SU Five-Year Strategic Vision Document.
The document is believed to be designed by “Team Auspicious” to serve as a guiding framework for successive union leadership over the next five years.
IndyPress can confirm that, unlike the Students’ Union constitution, which vests the power to make policy for the union in the Students’ Representative Council, the anticipated document neither passed through nor was debated by the outgoing members of the Legislative Council.
“There shall be a Students’ Representative Council (SRC) hereinafter referred to as the “Council” which shall be the representative policy making body of the Union,” Article XVII of the UI’SU constitution stated.
“The Council shall be the policy making body of the Union,” Article XXV (i) of the constitution further stated.
Adeboye Temidayo, who will be resuming as a 400L student later in March, is expected to take the baton of leadership from Odedele Covenant, having exhausted an 11-month stay.
Amidst the transition ceremony celebration, the Covenant Odedele administration leaves behind unresolved issues, including kitchenettes converted into rooms, delays in loan disbursement refunds, ongoing student victimisation.
