The Federal High Court, Ibadan has fixed March 31, 2026 to deliver judgment in a suit filed by three University of Ibadan students contesting their victimisation (and suspension) following a protest against the fee hike in 2024.
The concerned students Aduwo Ayodele, Mide Gbadegesin and Nice Linus filed a lawsuit against the university management over the judgement passed by the University Central disciplinary committee headed by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Kayode Adebowale.
The students filed a suit at the Federal High Court, seeking to set aside the suspension on grounds that the process leading to the decision violated their rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly
Recall that on May 13, 2024, during the inauguration of the Aweda-led Students’ Union administration, the trio displayed placards with the inscription “#FEESMUSTFALL” in protest against the institution’s fee hike policy.
They were forcefully removed from the venue, assaulted and handed over to personnel of the Nigerian Army.

Following the incident, the university subjected them to disciplinary proceedings, which resulted in the suspension of two of the students for four semesters in July 2025.
