TETFund Releases ₦80.8m to Support 46 UI Research Projects 

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has approved the release of ₦80,859,000, representing 60 per cent of the total approved grant of ₦134,765,000, for 46 research projects submitted by the University of Ibadan.

This was disclosed at an award presentation ceremony for the researchers held at the Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, commended the researchers for securing the grants on behalf of the institution.

He reaffirmed the university management’s commitment to promoting research excellence, noting that the institution’s reputation is built not only on infrastructure but also on groundbreaking scholarly work.

“We are not merely known for our bricks and mortar but for groundbreaking research projects,” UI VC said while urging academic staff to remain actively engaged in impactful research.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Research Grants Scientific Committee (RGSC), Professor Akinyinka Omigbodun, said the committee rigorously reviewed the proposals before forwarding them to TETFund.

According to him, the committee provided constructive feedback and technical support to applicants to improve the quality of their submissions, adding that all proposals were assessed strictly on merit..
