Indy Hall 15th Assembly to Hold First Ordinary Sitting

The Legislative Council of Great Independence Hall of Residence is set to hold its first ordinary sitting for the 2025/2026 academic session.

This was disclosed in a memorandum co-signed by the Speaker of the Council, Rt. Hon. Abdulmatin A. Gbadegesin, and the Clerk of the House, Hon. Ibrahim O. Bello, on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

According to the memo, the sitting is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the Independence Hall Junior Common Room (JCR) by 6PM.

The sitting will commence with an opening prayer, followed by the Speaker’s welcome address, the reading and adoption of the minutes of the last sitting, and the presentation of the State of the Hall address, which is expected to highlight current challenges affecting residents.

Other agenda items include the co-option of a D-Block representative, consideration and ratification of an acting Floor Representative for the C2 constituency, general co-option of honourable members, and the reading of constituency reports.

The Council is also expected to inaugurate committees aimed at strengthening the legislative arm of the hall.

Financial matters will also be considered during the sitting, including the presentation and review of the Executive Council budget and the Freshers’ Week budget ahead of upcoming hall activities.

The notice urged members and attendees to be seated before the scheduled time and invited stakeholders, hall executives, IndyPress Organisation, and observers to attend the sitting.
