An unidentified teenage boy was found dead beside the swimming pool at the Kunle Adepeju Memorial Building (Students’ Union Building), University of Ibadan, on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

The body, believed to be that of a male aged between 14 and 15 years, was discovered within the premises of the Students’ Union Building.

Speaking on the incident on Thursday, the Students’ Union President, Temidayo Deboye, confirmed the Union’s awareness of the situation and urged members of the university community to remain calm.

“We understand that this development may have caused concern among students,” Deboye said.

“However, we kindly urge all members of the student community to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information or speculations, especially across social media platforms,” he added.

He also revealed that preliminary information available indicates that the individual involved has been identified as not being a student of the University.

According to information gathered by UCJ UI, the incident is believed to have occurred between the late hours of Wednesday, March 25, and the early hours of Thursday, March 26, 2026.
