NAOSS-UI Holds Cultural Hangout, Promotes Unity

The National Association of the Ondo State Students, University of Ibadan chapter, on Saturday, 26th of October, 2024, held a get-together event at Love Garden, situated at the rear of Trenchard Hall, UI.

The get-together which united students from Ondo State, Nigeria, featured an orientation session, games, cultural dance performances and a quiz competition, with the overall winner and first runner-up gifted awards and empowered on cryptocurrency.

Attendees were served a variety of traditional delicacies like marugbo, pupuru, and egusi.

Speaking to IndyPress, Ayobami Oluwaseyi, a final year student of Political Science appreciated the efforts behind the picnic, while commending the leadership of the association for organizing the event.

“I was impressed with the level of cooperation and enthusiasm that made the picnic a success and I can say unequivocally that if such an event continues, then the lights of Ondo state in the University of Ibadan will remain untouched,” Oluwaseyi said.

The President of the association, Akinte Adetoba stated that the essence of the event was to orientate Ondo state students studying in the University of Ibadan on the importance of good character, ambassadorship and the need to stand for justice.

“It was the end of the semester cultural program. It was a picnic. It was a coming together of all Ondo state students in the University of Ibadan to meet and unite,” Akinte, the association President said.

“And also to orientate the people on the reason why we are in the University of Ibadan. The purpose which is to be good ambassadors, to be of good character, to stand for justice.”

“It was also an event of fun where we ate a lot of Ondo state foods like marugbo, pupuru and egusi, although it is a general food but specific to us,” he added.
