The Executive Council, Great Independence Hall of Residence on Wednesday, November 27 2024 has assured residents of her commitment to student welfare in the hall.

The council gave the assurance while informing the public about its effort to ensure that necessary reparations in the hall are done.

In a broadcast titled, “Update on Replacement of Torn Nets and Faulty Louvers”, undersigned by the Administrator General, Olaniyan Ibrahim, the Council noted that it is deeply concerned about the risky state of torn nets and louvers.

“The Executive Council is deeply concerned about the ongoing challenges posed by torn nets and broken louvers across the hall. We recognize the detrimental effects these issues have on your health, safety, and security, especially as they have been linked to theft of gadgets and personal property,” the release reads.

“To address this, we have engaged the Hall Management and submitted a follow-up letter to them. They have assured us that renovations will commence soon to replace all damaged nets and louvers across all blocks. Your welfare remains our top priority, and we will keep you updated on the progress,” the release added.

An earlier letter shared to the public alongside the Wednesday update notification, titled “Request for Replacement of Window Nets and Louvers in all Blocks” had been sent to the Hall Warden on 5th November.

The letter signed by the Secretary of State, Olaoye David had called on the hall management to commence corrective efforts on the state of rooms, the bulk of which are in a deteriorated condition.
