The 11th Assembly, Students’ Representative Council, University of Ibadan has called for submission of essay entries by all undergraduate students of any tertiary institution in Oyo State.
The Students’ Representative Council, shortly referred to as UI’SRC, is the policy making organ of the Students’ Union. It functions as the legislative arm of the Union.
The essay competition ongoing call for submission is set to close on Friday, January 31st 2025. The prizes to be won are N100,000, N70,000 and N50,000 for the first, second and third winners respectively.
Interested participants are expected to write on the topic, “Role of Legislation in Promoting Sustainable Development: Challenges and Opportunities“.
Entries, according to the organizers, should be between 500 and 1000 words. Essays are to be submitted in document format and should include name, matriculation number, level and department. All entries would be evaluated based on coherence, clarity and originality.
One of the organizing members, Honorable Zainab Ayomide Oladele, speaking with IndyPress noted that the essay competition was designed to inspire creativity and critical thinking.
“We warmly invite all undergraduates of every higher institution in Oyo state to participate in this essay competition. This was designed to inspire creativity, critical thinking and to provide a platform for young minds to express themselves,” Honorable Zainab said.
“By participating, you will not only be able to express yourself, but also connect with like minds, develop your writing skills and also share your unique ideas and perspectives,” she added.
