Babatimehin Peace Emerges as TLDS President-elect

Babatimehin Peace, a 300-level student studying Civil Engineering, emerged as the President-elect of The Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan, on Monday, March 3, 2024.

His emergence as the President-elect of the debating society came after securing a total of 20 votes, with one void vote.

Other candidates were also elected into the Executive Council. Below is the list of the newly elected executives:

President: Babatimehin Peace – 20 votes

Vice President: Olatunji Oladoyin – 17 votes

General Secretary: Mayowa Adekola – 15 votes

Treasurer: Filade Michael – 21 votes

Public Relations Officer: Akinloye Goodness – 17 votes

Reacting, Babatimehin Peace assured that the newly elected Executive Council would raise the standard of the debating society.

“It felt as it should — a transfer of the burden of responsibility to uphold the standard of our society and Jaw War. Regardless, I am confident that the newly elected executives are up to the task and able to elevate the standard of the society.”

“We will try to achieve better cohesion and understanding within the society, which will culminate in a better-run Jaw War competition. Ultimately, we will work earnestly and hope to have our efforts crowned with success,” Babatimehin Peace concluded.
