The University of Ibadan Health Service (UHS) has enjoined members of the University community to prioritize the safety of their eyes and ears.
According to a memo signed by Dr. Aderonke, Director of UHS, members of the University community, including students and staff, were advised to pay attention to the health of their visual and auditory organs.
“If comments like ‘Can you see?’ are frequently directed at you, please have your eyes checked. If comments like ‘Can’t you hear?’ are often said to you, please have your ears checked,” the memorandum reads.
“Timely checks may turn out to be a saving grace in averting major or irreversible health outcomes. A stitch in time saves nine,” it added.
The University Health Service also advised users of earpieces to prioritize using only one at a time.
It further urged the University community to maintain proper health and environmental hygiene during the current rainy season to prevent flooding and the breeding of mosquitoes.
The Health Service encouraged University staff to take advantage of the ongoing health checks funded by the University, while also charging them to prioritize regular sanitation practices.
