The Great Independence Hall Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan, held its rookie induction ceremony on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Indy Hall Cafeteria.

The induction ceremony featured an inter-house debating competition between two houses, Dyonis and Ingrid.

The competition, themed “Driving Social Change: The Intersection of Politics and Education,” featured five rounds, with participants speaking on different topics.

Adebayo Oluwajuwon and Ugor Benedict emerged as the second and first runners-up, respectively.

Meanwhile, Akinsola Oluwamayowa was named the Overall Best Speaker.

The event was graced by the President of the Literary and Debating Society of the University of Ibadan, Babatimehin Peace, along with other distinguished attendees.
