The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration ) of the University of Ibadan, Professor Peter O. Olapegba, has described the former Dean of Students, Professor Adekeye Abiona, as “an invaluable asset” to the Students Affairs Division of the University of Ibadan.

Professor Peter Olapegba made this remark on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale during a send-off programme held to honour Professor Abiona for his years of service as the Dean of Students.

Commending the erstwhile Dean of Students for what he described as his outstanding management of students from different backgrounds, social strata, ethnicity, age and religious affiliation, Professor Peter Olapegba stressed the impact of his leadership on the lives of the students.

“The Dean always saw himself as one of the students; hence, he found a common ground with them,” Professor Peter Olapegba added.

In his remark, the new Dean of Students, Professor Demola Lewis, commended Professor Adekeye Abiona for what he described as his administrative acumen and compassion in dealing with students, particularly those with special needs.
