The Students’ Affairs Division, University of Ibadan, has blacklisted one hundred and sixty-three student associations at the University of Ibadan over the failure to renew their registrations, IndyPress reports.

A memorandum dated 19th of August, 2025, and signed by Assumpta  Lawal, the Administrative Officer for Deputy Registrar(Students) confirmed that the 163 student associations have been blacklisted for non-compliance with the University’s registration regulations.

According to the memorandum, the affected student associations will remain blacklisted until they fulfill all the regulatory requirements for their registrations.

“These associations have been blacklisted and shall remain blacklisted until they have complied with the regulations guiding registration of students association in the University,” the memorandum reads.

The blacklisted associations include a broad mix of student bodies such as religious, fellowship, state and faculty associations.

The affected student associations include SIGMA Club, Arts Lovers Club, Mellanby Hall Literary and Debating Society, Methodist Campus Fellowship, among others.

The blacklisted associations, according to the memorandum, have been mandated to cease all operations within the University and are prohibited from organizing or participating in any events under the University’ name.

“The blacklisted associations are not permitted to operate within the university environment, organise or participate in programmes under the university’s name and present themselves as recognised student bodies,” it added.

As observed by IndyPress, the farthest registration renewal was done in the 2007/2008 academic session.

The affected associations are encouraged to visit the Students’ Affairs Division to effect the renewal of their registrations.
